Longstowe Hall again! Looking at my blog, it seems that I am always here, but this is the last time this year… 🙁
I asked Kat & Nathan to tell you their wedding story, so this is what they had to share:
“We met 8 years ago through a mutual friend on the way home from a night out where he asked me to dinner. My reply “no chance”. A year passed and we met again, situations had changed and this time Kat gave him the benefit of the doubt. During the next 4 years things were far from plain sailing. We were on then off, then on then off so many times that our friends just couldn’t understand why we endured it all. Then last year on a holiday to Malta, Nathan asked Kat to marry him (whilst kneeling in an ants nest) ever the romantic! The rest as they say is history. As soon as they got back the planning began.
Kat knew instantly who she would have as her bridesmaids. Her oldest friends and her cousin who also did the bridesmaids hair. A couple of them were only too happy to turn in to bridesmaid-zillas! #time machine! The best man was a very old friend of Nathan’s, with far more stories than needed to be told, hence Kat was quite worried. His brother was an usher and he was only allowed two more ushers so the bridal parties were ‘even’…a hard yet easy choice for him.
We only looked at three venues and were torn between all of them. This was cut down to two due to available dates and then it was down to the price. We loved Longstowe and Kat’s dad was willing to pay so we picked the venue which had us amazed and secretly wanted the most from the moment we drove through the gates.
We used Capers catering which are the company Longstowe use for their events and after the food tasting with Sally, we were sold. Nathan said if he wasn’t marrying Kat he would marry the chef!
When the task of finding a photographer. Probably the most important person after the wedding party! Unbeknown to us many of our friends had used Neil for their weddings but it wasn’t until Kat met him at a wedding fair in Impington that the decision was pretty much made. The added package of the photo booth also helped sell it. Neil was friendly, professional and seemed to put us at ease straight away.
The wedding cars were booked from John Newbury in Bedford who did a great deal. Not only did he give my dads camera to the minibus driver who took some lovely photos as we left the house but he even stopped at Tesco on the way to the church to get Kat some bottles of water! Couldn’t have been more pleased with them.
The disco was a recommendation from a company who weren’t available on the date but Charlie from Pro events was fantastic. He played songs that were requested, showed us dance moves and read the crowd well.
The photography experience was fab. The pre-wedding shoot, as awkward as it was between Nathan and Kat was not awkward between us and Neil. On the day from the moment Neil is at the house to the time he leaves the reception, he is great. Neil is very sneaky and manages to stay hidden and just pop up in the most perfect places to capture the moment. His time spent at Longstowe- being nearly every other weekend it would seem- would not be known, as his enthusiasm and fun ideas (human pyramids, piggybacks, jaeger bombs, dancing) seem endless and fresh even if he does them weekend after weekend. (although I’m sure he must secretly be longing for something crazy to happen)
We cannot wait to see the photos and wouldn’t hesitate in recommending you for photography, thank you so much.
Our first dance song was Nathan’s choice as all the ones Kat liked, he didn’t! However it was the perfect song after all that we had been through to get to this day. The best part, apart from the ceremony, was being treated like royalty and of course the party where we nailed our first dance which we had made up two days before and then winged it! Kat danced to nearly every song and wishes she used the photo booth a lot more. However, having everyone we love there and everyone having a great time was priceless. We wish we could do it all again next weekend. What a magical day.”
