Photographing at one of Cambridge University’s beautiful colleges is always a pleasure, even if it can be a little challenging at times, due to the light.
Jo and Alan came down from Scotland to marry at Westminster College, where Jo had studied. This is often the case with weddings at Cambridge Colleges – couples come back from all around the world to tie the knot where they spent some of the best years of their lives. In fact, Jo had an even longer history with Westminster College, as I realised when I was shown a large picture of her Grandfather, a fellow of the college many years ago, hanging on the wall in the library.
Jo and her two bridesmaids arrived in a beautiful classic car from Cambridge Wedding Cars, whilst Alan waited excitedly in the Hall with his best man and life-long friend.
The service was taken by another of Jo and Alan’s friends, and such wedding ceremonies are always lovely – very personal, with some touching stories about the couple.
After an hour or so outside, in the sun, everybody made their way into the dinning hall for the wedding breakfast, and the speeches. I obviously get to hear many wedding speeches and I must say, I found Alan a very inspiring man: he had some incredible achievements, both academically and physically, and had an amazing positive attitude, and this was only backed up by his best man during his great speech.
The Ceilidh in the evening got everyone on the dance floor, a great way to end a beautiful day.
Congratulations Alan and Jo, nice to have been part of your special day and thank you for the lovely feedback! “Hi Neil, Amazing photos! We are absolutely delighted with them – you’ve captured some great moments and the “staged” ones are as natural as they can be too. The ones you took of me/Jo in the back garden are stunning. This is clearly more than just a “job” for you! Thanks Neil. Great memories. Alan & Jo”
