Here I am again at one of Cambridgeshire’s most exclusive wedding venues! I have been so lucky, this must be my 6th visit this year to the wonderful Longstowe Hall. Tom and Amy were a delight to photograph, even if Tom’s height created a bit of a challenge for me, as I am only 5’9 and he must have been 6’6! I never like to photograph people from below their head height, as it is not a flattering pose. It thundered and poured all day, except for the short time I needed to take photos in the grounds of Longstowe :). It all went well though, so here is their wedding story, in pictures first and then in their own words.
“We met at 6th form college nearly 10 years ago. After months of visiting venues we went to Longstowe Hall and immediately knew we wanted our wedding reception there. The house and grounds are stunning. The caterers were Capers Catering. The food was brilliant and so was their service. Our cake supplier was Mr Cake (Chris Holmes). He worked with us closely to design our cake and delivered exactly what we wanted. Our flowers were supplied by The Flower Room in Sandy. Lisa (from The Flower Room) was really helpful and created beautiful centre pieces and arrangements that really complimented the setting. Our wedding car was a 1958 Mark 8 Jaguar from Midas Bridal Cars.
The suits were hired from Expressions Bridal Wear in Hitchin. Carole (the owner) was brilliant and helpful.
Bridal party hair was Tops Spot in Sandy, makeup was Emma from Pretty Pamper in St Neots and dresses were all from Marena Bridal Gowns in Sandy.
The entertainment was provided by Amy’s dads band (No Skulking Loafers) followed by the DJ (Full Force Entertainment).
Highlights are difficult to choose as the day was perfect and everything came together better than we could have hoped or dreamed. The first moment that sticks out in our minds is seeing each other for the first time on our wedding day at the church. Having all of our family and friends around us helped make our day that extra bit special.
The first dance was a success; we’d practiced in secret… our guests were suitably impressed. The track we chose was’ Love Song’ by Adele. It’s a beautiful song and the sentiment of the lyrics fitted us perfectly.
The best man, bridesmaids and ushers really helped the day run smoothly and we couldn’t have done it without them; they earned their drinks in the evening.
We really enjoyed working with Neil; he made the photography experience fun. He found the perfect balance between getting great photo’s around the venue whilst still allowing us plenty of time to be with our guests. We got all of the group photo’s we wanted alongside a portfolio of natural and stunning partially posed pictures.”
